The Faculty of Science welcomes all postgraduate students in 2022, and we wish you well in your postgraduate studies and research.

Instructions on how to register for the different postgraduate degrees offered by the Faculty of Science have changed for 2022.

Note that all postgraduate registration in 2022 will be online. All postgraduate students will receive a notification in 2022 as to when they can start the registration process, together with further information on the process to follow.

Registration for 2022 will start from 5 January 2022 for returning PhD and full research Master’s students. The process will start with a notification to login to PeopleSoft to start working on the online “Progress & Planned Activities” (PPA). The process of checking and approval by the supervisors and Head of Department will all take place online. The process will be finalised with the completion of an online registration task.

New PhD and full research Master’s students will start the registration process from 5 January 2022 on receipt of a notification to login to PeopleSoft and complete the online “Memorandum of Understanding” (MoU). The process will be finalised with the completion of an online registration task.    

New Master’s (coursework & minor dissertation) students will register online using the Peoplesoft system, after receiving a notification and details of the process via email in mid-January 2022.

Honours students will register online using the Peoplesoft system, after receiving a notification and details of the process in late February 2021.  *Departments to confirm individual start dates.

The deadline for postgraduate registration is 11th February 2022. 

International Students (excluding Postdoctoral Fellows)
Clearance (i.e. visa, medical aid and fee checks) for international students will be completed remotely by the International Academic Programmes Office (IAPO). For further information, please refer to www.international.uct.ac.za or email: iapo@uct.ac.za. You must produce a valid study permit, medical insurance certificate and proof of payment of fees in order to obtain clearance before registering at the Faculty Office.

Late Registration   
A late registration penalty of R2000 will apply.

Students with Outstanding Fees
You will NOT be allowed to register until your fee account has been settled. Please make the required payment at the Fees Office prior to registering at the Faculty.
