Prerequisite: PHY1012F/S and PHY1013F/S, and MAM2083F/S. Co-requisite: MAM2084F/S or equivalent
Course outline
Coulomb's law, Gauss' law; Vector calculus: vector differential operators div, grad, curl, integral theorems; Field and potential: Poisson and Laplace's equations; Electric fields in matter; Magnetic fields: Biot-Savart law, Ampere's law, magnetic fields in materials; Electromagnetic induction; Maxwell's equations; Geometrical optics, propagation in optical fibres.
