Sustainable chemist wins Rising Star Africa Prize

Dr Wade Petersen, from the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Science, has been announced as the winner of the Royal Society’s Rising Star Africa Prize for 2023.

Research interests: Ocean-climate dynamics, numerical modelling, data assimilation and data analytics using ocean and earth data, and satellite remote sensing, with a focus on the Indian Ocean and Agulhas Current.
