Bayesian Species richness and occupancy models
24 April 2017
Allan Clark will present the Department of Statistical Science's seminar with a talk entitled, "Bayesian Species richness and occupancy models".
Allan Clark is a Senior lecturer in the Department of Statistical Sciences.
Species richness (defined as the amount of species in a particular area) in areas in the Karoo will be investigated using occupancy models. The aim of the project is to relate various biological covariates to species richness. The camera trap data analysed was collected by a biological Sciences PhD student (UCT) over the course of two years. In the talk I will discuss the theory as well as the practical problems related to this data set.
