Tom Bonin

Tom brings a background in early-stage entrepreneurship and investment to conservation, working across Africa and Europe to support biodiversity protection and nature-based solutions.

In 2023, Tom joined an ocean impact program in Cape Town that was focused on turning marine science into viable market solutions. He later founded Pileus Blue, a practice in the blue economy and conservation finance, helping institutions, investors, and organisations unlock capital for early-stage conservation and impact ventures.

Alongside this work, Tom is training as a wilderness guide, leading immersive experiences in biodiversity-rich and rewilding landscapes that share the stories and challenges of conservation NGOs and local stewards.

Tom joined the Conservation Biology MSc course to connect his work in venture-building and conservation finance with a deeper scientific understanding of ecosystems and biodiversity restoration.
