Associate Professor Deshen Moodley and Professor Tommie Meyer will present the UCT Summer School Online Discussion around Artificial Intelligence, with a talk entitled, "Will Artificial Intelligence shape the Future?"

Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) is already shaping our everyday lives. While there is enormous potential for harnessing AI to solve complex industrial and social problems, many organisations are still grappling to understand the relevance and future impact of AI on their activities. This webinar will explore the potential of AI, some of its limitations and challenges, and what we should be doing about it.

About the speakers:

Associate Professor Deshen Moodley is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Cape Town and the Co-Founder and Co-Director of CAIR. His broad research is Artificial Intelligence, specifically the development of systems that can self-learn and adapt to a dynamic and evolving environment.

Professor Tommie Meyer is a Professor in Computer Science at the University of Cape Town and the Co-Founder and Co-Director of CAIR. He is recognised internationally as an expert in Knowledge Representation and Reasoning.
