Why do life history strategies vary within and among latitudes? Turning theory in new directions
29 September 2016
Professor Thomas E Martin from the US Geological Survey MT, University of Montana, Missoula will presen the Biological Sciences seminar with a talk entitled, " Why do life history strategies vary within and among latitudes? Turning theory in new directions"
Professor Martin will propose and provide both observational and experimental evidence against a series of traditional hypotheses and provide new hypotheses and tests to explain broad geographic variation in life history strategies of songbirds based on studies on 4 continents over the past 30 years. He will cover embryonic development rates, parental behaviour, clutch size, egg size and growth strategies.
