The School of IT seminar will be presented by Markus Lahtinen, from Lund University, Sweden. His topc is "What will happen to the traditional university when books, lecturers and researcher move into the Internet?"
Abstract
Digitization is a current topic, frequently debated in media the past years. Most of that discussion have centered around the consequences of digitization, for example change in work life and questions regarding who will be the winners and losers of that change. Computerization of work has been an ongoing process since the 1950’s. Initially, it was mainly routine work that lent itself to be easily automated. But with increased computing power, even intellectual work is set to change. What drives this development, what does it mean for universities the way we know then and what are the possible future consequences? In addition, the presentation will highlight some of the work done on Digital Learning and MOOCs at the School of Economics and Management at Lund University.https://www.lusem.lu.se/news/the-whole-world-is-learning-about-digital-business-models-at-lusem-s-first-mooc
