Title: The UCT Holistic Drug Discovery and Development (H3D) Research Centre: Introduction and Overview
Abstract:
The University of Cape Town (UCT) Holistic Drug Discovery and Development (H3D) Centre was founded in 2010. With laboratories across both the Faculty of Science and Faculty of Health Sciences, H3D is a cross-faculty centre conducting early-stage (preclinical) medicines discovery research with a focus on infectious diseases that predominantly affect African populations, such as malaria, tuberculosis, and antibiotic-resistant microbial diseases. H3D is also focused on developing preclinical tools and models to facilitate customization of medicines to African patients’ needs, developing technology platforms and capacity building across Africa. During its first 12 years, H3D has made substantive progress in advancing its research and education mission.
This talk will introduce H3D, its technology platforms, programs, partnerships, and growth trajectory.
