John Van Thuyne will present the Department of Biological Science seminar with a talk about the research opportunities at the new Vanthuyne-Ridge research centre in Botswana.
In collaboration with the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, Mr Van Thuyne, a researcher at the Faculty of Geosciences, has opened an inter-disciplinary Research Center niched between the Okavango Delta and the Chobe National Park. This center focuses on biology, geology and anthropology. It is a tool to be used by students, researchers or professors who intend to do some field work research in this area. We are in contact with the University of Boulder Colorado Prof Bronwen Konecky, Columbia University Prof Peter deMenocal and Prof Tony Barnosky at Stanford University. The aim of this presentation is to present the biological opportunities of research in this region and to present works in this field which have already been conducted at our center.
