Let's tame the beast: Optimal Point Kriging Predictions in the Presence of Log-Guassian Data
23 March 2015
Associate Professor Christien Thiart from the Department of Statistical Science at UCT will give a talk entitled, "Let's tame the beast: Optimal Point Kriging Predictions in the Presence of Log-Guassian Data". A common procedure int eh presence of skew spatial data is to transform the observed data by taking logs, thus creating a pseudo-Guassian random field. Kriging is then used to predict at unobserved locations using the pseudo-Gaussian data, a procedure termed lognormal kriging.
