Maria Fasli, Director of the Big Data Institute at the University of Essex, will present a seminar entitled, "Exploring and Understanding Complex and Big Data".
With the rapid growth of the Internet and the WWW, the availability of smart mobile computational devices and processors being embedded in everyday objects, we have seen an explosion in the volumes of data, both structured and unstructured, being generated in a range of domains. This talk will describd some of the issues and challenges arising from the proliferation of data. The presentation will discuss work that has been using artificial intelligence techniques such as agent-based and multi-agent systems, to explore and understand complex and big data in different domains of application, ranging from understanding the dynamics of electronic markets to individual user behaviour.
