Professor Matt Jones of Swansea University will present the Department of Computer Science colloquim with a talk entitled, "The Better Together Toolkit"

The Better Together framework is an open-source platform designed to disaggregate the components of complex services, allowing separate mobile phones to each represent and provide a single component of the overall interaction. The toolkit has been designed specifically with and for emergent users; that is, those who are currently under-served by mobile technology. Its distribution supports both sharing of resources and scaffolding of inclusive interaction in mixed groups. In this talk we will describe the wider project and workshops that led to the toolkit creation, as well as the framework itself and some example plugins we have built from it.

Professor Jones is the head of the College of Science at Swansea University in the UK. His research interests include designing for emergent users, deformable interfaces and heads-up interaction. He has a strong background in HCI, with a record of publication in top-tier conferences and journals and has co-authored two books; “Mobile Interaction Design” 2006 and “There’s not an app for that” 2014.
