Michael obtained his National Diploma in Nature Conservation at the Cape Technikon. He then worked for SANParks from 1999-2001, and was first stationed as a student in the Cape Peninsula National Park and then as Section ranger in the Agulhas National Park. Following this he ran a computer consultancy in the Bredasdorp area, catering to the farming community.
He has been involved in developing monitoring software for various conservation organisations such as Working for Water and Ukuvuka, as well as developing management assistance software for farmers.
Michael is involved with the development of various software and database solutions for the ADU, as well as developing and maintaining various websites for the different projects. Currently he is involved primarily with the South African Bird Atlas Project 2 (SABAP2), but also spends time developing solutions for CWAC, BIRP and SAFRING, as well as various other projects. Michael also attends to various other IT related duties within the ADU.
