Loadshedding offers unique research opportunity
Fitz researchers, Associate Professors Arjun Amar and Robert Thomson, are proposing that loadshedding - scheduled electrical blackouts experienced in South Africa - could be seen as an exciting research opportunity.
In a paper published in collaboration with researchers from the University of the Witwatersrand and the University of Glasgow, they highlight the reduction in light pollution caused by loadshedding and suggest using these periods to investigate the impact of artificial light on animal behaviour.
