New FitzPatrick Institute Director
The new Director of the FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology is Dr Susie Cunningham. Susie started her position at the beginning of April, as Associate Professor and Director of the Fitz.
Susie needs no introduction to most of us, having joined UCT in 2010 and been an academic staff member since 2015. Susie is an internationally respected behavioural ecologist and global change biologist, and known to to all of us here at the Fitz and Biological Sciences as an outstanding colleague and the head of a thriving and productive research group.
We are exceptionally lucky to have a new Director not only with Susie’s scientific excellence, but also her vision, inspiration, collegiality, and kindness. She has the warm support of the whole Fitz and Biological Sciences community, and we are excited to see what we as a team will achieve under her leadership.
