MSc (Cons. Biol.) Umhlanga Rotary Conservation Bursary for 2011
The Centre of Excellence (CoE) at the Percy FitzPatrick Institute aims to promote and undertake scientific studies involving birds, and to contribute to the theory and practice of maintaining biological diversity and the sustained use of biological resources.
The Percy FitzPatrick Institute, DST/NRF CoE, is offering an Umhlanga Rotary Conservation Bursary of R50,000 to a South African student registered for the M.Sc. Conservation Biology course at the Percy FitzPatrick Institute at UCT. A precondition of awarding this bursary is that you undertake to do your research project using birds as a focus group for addressing a research question in conservation biology, under the supervision of an academic staff member of the Centre of Excellence at the Percy FitzPatrick Institute (these include Tim Crowe, Graeme Cumming, Phil Hockey and Peter Ryan). For further details on staff members and their research programmes, see our website.
To apply for the Umhlanga Rotary Conservation Bursary, submit a brief motivation, including a bird focused project concept and a statement of financial need to Dr Rob Little at the e-mail address rob.little@uct.ac.za. The deadline for applications is 30 November 2010.
