The National Astrophysics and Space Science Programme (NASSP)

South Africa has a long history of excellence in astronomy, a sound high-tech infrastructure and clear skies. But southern Africa's rich, diversified expertise in astrophysics and space science has never been available to students in one place, until now. Researchers from around the region have joined forces to create a cooperative, combined programme where South African students and students from around Africa and the rest of the world can study postgraduate degrees while being mentored and taught by a "dream team" of South Africa's leading scientists.

Two postgraduate degrees are being offered by the National Astrophysics and Space Science Programme:
The BSc (Hons) degree (AST4007W) and the MSc degree by coursework (AST5003F) and dissertation (AST5001W).

Postgraduate NASSP courses:

AST4007W BSc (Hons) in Astrophysics and Space Science (NASSP)

AST5003F MSc in Astrophysics and Space Science (Taught component of NASSP)

AST5001W MSc in Astrophysics and Space Science (Thesis component of NASSP in the Astronomy Department).

Postgraduate Astronomy courses:

AST5000W MSc in Astronomy

AST6000W PhD in Astronomy

Masters in Data Science:

AST5005W MSc in Data Science (Thesis component of MSc in Data Science in the Astronomy Department).
