This SEEC Stats Toolbox seminar, presented by Jasper Slingsby, covers TWO topics: (1) Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in R, and (2) ecological forecasting in R.
The GIS section is a very brief introduction to GIS in general and handling spatial data in R. See Jasper's tutorial here.
In the second part, Jasper provides a very brief introduction to the framework for Ecological Forecasting. He focuses on providing a broad overview of the general framework and motivation for ecological forecasting, but doesn't delve into the more gory theoretical and statistical details. This toolbox highlights various themes and principles that are increasingly important for quantitative biologists - understanding how we inform or make decisions; managing data; working reproducibly; propagating, understanding and reducing uncertainty, etc. See Jasper's tutorial here.
