There are numerous approaches to modelling species distributions. Ensemble modelling, using a number of modelling approaches to build an "average" predicted distribution, has been suggested as one way to overcome the difficulties in choosing an appropriate method and for maximising the gain from each approach. Moreover, ensemble approaches can be used to combine distribution data from different sources.
