New paper: Fire and invasive grasses

Grasses are some of the most damaging invasive species in the world and the Americas, Australia and the Pacific are riddled with grass invasions. So why are there so few invasive grasses in South Africa?  

One of SEEC's researchers, Vernon Visser, recently published a paper with a number of collaborators addressing this phenomenon. One of the most interesting things to come out of this research is that perhaps the regular fires that occur in grasslands and savannas of South Africa (and much of the rest of Africa) help to keep out alien grasses.
