Stefan Britz
Lecturer
Stefan is a lecturer in the Department of Statistical Sciences. As an applied statistician, his research interests are varied, with his more recent work including sports forecasting using machine learning and network analysis applied to criminal and transport networks. He has also applied machine learning techniques to ecological problems such as prey capture detection from penguin-borne videos, classifying gibbon calls through bioacoustic signals, mapping endangered Clanwilliam cedars via remote sensing, and segmenting leaf embolisms to quantify failure in plant water-transport networks.
