The Environment, Society and Sustainability Masters class recently spent a night away together getting to know each other better. We went for a hike on Table Mountain and then had fun preparing a meal together. This class of students comes from all over and it was fun to share experiences, environmental concerns, talk through research ideas, and generally get to know each other better. One of the great joys of a course work Masters programme is the intimate group of peers that develops who then go on to become colleagues, members of broader environmental networks, and lifelong friends. On our recent night away with the Environment, Society and Sustainability Masters class, course convener Philile Mbatha got the students to share their childhood dreams of what they thought they would be when they grew up. Here we all are huddled around the fire and drawing our childhood dreams. A fun game ensued with much hilarity. All part of getting to know each other a little better!
