Our Centre hosted four French students from the Chemical Engineering School of Mulhouse in France. Mathieu Diboune, Emeline Leroy, Caroline Rosenblatt and Juliette Gilbert were here for a two month internship in May and June under the supervision of Dr. Clive Oliver. The aim of the internship was to synthesis and analysis new MOFs composed of two organic ligands and an ion metal centre. This project included determination of the crystal structure by using Powder and Single Crystal X-Ray Diffraction (PXRD and SC-XRD) and also thermal analysis like Hot Stage Microscopy (HSM), DSC and TGA. Apart from the training, they discovered the beautiful City of Cape Town: climbing Table Mountain, Lion's Head and Signal Hill, enjoying Cape Point and the beaches.
