Operations Research (OR) is the study of scientific approaches to decision-making. By making use of mathematical models, optimisation techniques, and other analytical methods, OR facilitates an in-depth understanding of complex problems, allowing practical actions to be taken and the best possible decisions to be made.

The OR group at the UCT Department of Statistical Sciences invites you to attend a 2-day OR workshop which will be held in person at Hahn 4, PD Hahn Building, Upper Campus, UCT on 5-6 September 2024, from 9am to 4pm. The aim of the workshop is to promote the OR field by showcasing its importance and practicality. A range of speakers from academia and industry will present various OR-related projects with different real-world applications. Speakers and talks will be different for the two days (full schedule available here). The event is free of charge and places are limited. Lunch will be served.
