Dr Innocent Karangwa

Innocent holds a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics (2006), BSc (Hons) (2007), MSc in Statistics with specialisation in Computational Finance (2008), PhD in Statistics (2015) from the University of the Western Cape (UWC).

He worked as a consultant in the Biostatistics unit at Stellenbosch University (2017) and as a lecturer of Statistics at UWC (Jan 2018 – May 2021).

Research interests: Application of statistical and machine learning techniques in healthcare and demography.

He collaborates (since 2020) with the Institute of Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) based at the University of Washington. His role is to provide input on the data analysis section of the research projects that involve the Global Burden of Disease (GBD).
