Development and application of statistical methods in health sciences research, especially but not exclusively in the areas of dermatology, cardiology. The theoretical aspects of my research work involves the development of methods for the analysis of multivariate longitudinal or repeated measures data including methods for the detection of outliers/robust estimation, survival analysis, joint analysis of longitudinal data and survival data, competing or semi-competing risks, models for recurrent events, design and analysis of clinical trials and meta-analysis. I collaborate with leading medical researchers in cardiology, dermatology, non-communicable diseases and infectious diseases. I also have interest in machine learning methods for healthcare. I am currently an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Statistical Sciences. I am a C1-rated researcher by the NRF. I currently serve on both the executive board of the International Biometric Society and advisory board of the NGA-MaSS.
