Research interests: Larval ecology, ecophysiology, mangrove ecology, complexity-biodiversity dynamics, plastics, global change

My research is focused on using interdisciplinary techniques to address the ecological consequences of anthropogenic pollution, habitat degradation and climate changes on the community structure and ecophysiology of adults, and larval invertebrate and fish assemblages. More broadly, I look at how these abiotic and biotic changes result in multi-scale ecosystem dynamics.

My core research area encompasses:

  1. Complexity-biodiversity dynamics of sub and intertidal macrophytes and ecosystem function implications

  1. Climate change vulnerability of intertidal macrofauna and larvae

  1. Anthropogenic debris in the marine environment: the interaction between plastics and biota specifically looking at how ingestion influences dynamic energy budgets and how animal behaviours facilitate habitat as sinks for plastic sequestration.
