Minto and Faith from the Oceanography Department were among the distinguished researchers who had the opportunity to represent their department at the Postdoc Research Showcase held on Monday, March 10, 2025.

The annual event, which brings together postdoctoral scholars from various fields, focused on the theme, "Research Driving Innovation, Transformation, & Sustainability for Africa’s Future." Both Minto and Faith’s research presentations aligned perfectly with this theme, highlighting the crucial role of oceanographic studies in promoting sustainable solutions for the continent.

Faith February

Faith’s presentation, titled "Seasonal Variability of Southern Ocean Sea Spray Aerosols," examined the impact of seasonal changes on aerosol levels in the Southern Ocean, shedding light on their potential effects on regional climate patterns.

Minto Dimoune

Minto's presentation, titled "Effect of Stratospheric Aerosol Injection on Marine Heatwave Events off the Coast of South Africa," explored how geoengineering techniques, particularly stratospheric aerosol injection, could influence marine heatwaves along the South African coast.

Both presentations were met with enthusiasm and interest from fellow researchers, faculty, and industry experts in attendance. The showcase provided an exciting opportunity for Minto and Faith to engage with leading professionals, share their insights, and contribute to the ongoing dialogue on sustainability and innovation in Africa’s future.
