rePhotoSA on Radio Today Saturday 19 November 2016

rePhotoSA is gaining momentum with ever increasing interest from the public. On Saturday morning (19 November 2016), rePhotoSA was the topic for discussion between Tim Neary, the host of the Sappi Nature Journal programme on Radio Today, and Samantha Venter, the rePhotoSA Project Coordinator based at the University of Cape Town (UCT). rePhotoSA is the repeat photography project of southern African landscapes. It is an online collaborative citizen science project between the Plant Conservation Unit and the Animal Demography Unit at UCT (http://rephotosa.adu.org.za/), and so requires you as the public to get involved in taking repeat photographs of the historical images uploaded to our website (http://rephotosa.adu.org.za/Search_photos.php). The overall aim of the project is to understand how and why landscapes are changing over time, and we can do this by comparing two accurate images of a landscape taken at two different time periods. There are many other ways to get involved, including the donation of historical photographs of landscapes (up to the end of the 20th century) and the donation of funds towards project running costs. See our website for more information on how to get involved: http://rephotosa.adu.org.za/Get_Involved.php.
There were several options for interested people to listen! For those in Gauteng, they could tune into Radio Today on 1485AM. The station is also on DStv Audio channel 869 but the easiest way to listen, no matter where you are, is to go to http://www.1485.org.za/ and to click on "Listen Live".
