We would like to give a warm welcome to Cherié Forbes who has recently joined us as a PhD Candidate in Palaeoecology and Ecosystem-based Adaptation under the co-supervision of Lindsey Gillson and Timm Hoffman at the Plant Conservation Unit (PCU).
Cherié was born and bred in Cape Town beginning her natural sciences career at UCT in 2006 - BSc in Marine Biology and Ecology. After graduating with her MSc in Palaeoecology (2014), Cherie worked as a Project Manager at a climate change and sustainable development non-profit company called SouthSouthNorth for 2 years. She worked as the Lead Project Manager on the Community Adaptation Small Grants Facility project and as a Research Assistant on the Future Climate For Africa project.
Cherié is excited to re-join the PCU as a PhD Candidate specialising in Palaeoecology and Ecosystem-based Adaptation, with the following thesis topic: "A long-term, palaeoecological perspective on natural resource management in response to climate and socio-economic drivers for Ecosystem-based Adaptation".
Welcome Cherié!
