Professor Timm Hoffman and Esther Mostert, gave a joint presentation on the rePhotoSA project on Saturday, 6th June, as part of the ADU/WESSA Citizen Science Day. rePhotoSA is a citizen science project with a focus on repeat landscape photography of southern Africa. It is a collaborative project between the Plant Conservation Unit and the Animal Demography Unit (ADU).
This is the 12th Citizen Science Day which the ADU has organised, and the third time that the rePhotoSA project has been featured. During Saturday morning a wide range of different citizen science projects were profiled. These included PHOWN – Photos of Weaver Nests, MammalMap, MyBirdPatch, and the Second Southern African Bird Atlas Project (SABAP2). Some other interesting talks were given about the Cape Leopard Trust, Nigerian biodiversity, and the Peninsula Paddle. The day was well attended, and some people stayed on after lunch for a Citizen Science ‘Clinic’, to help them become more familiar with the protocols of particular citizen science projects. These Citizen Science Day's will continue to he held throughout the year in various provinces.
