A snapshot of the article as it appeared in the Weekend Argus

The latest Weekend Argus ‘Life’ feature – 14 February 2015 highlighted the work being done at the Plant Conservation Unit, using the tool of repeat photography to understand the changing South African landscape. Journalist Michael Morris spent some time talking to Professor Timm Hoffman about the work that he and his students do.

The article highlighted the recently launched project – rePhotoSA – which engages with the public as ‘citizen scientists’ to add to the database of repeat photographs, by accessing an online digital database of historic landscape images, taking a repeat photograph of a selected image, and then uploading this repeat photograph (along with data collected) to the digital database.  The more repeat photographs there are in the database, the better the quality of research can be in contributing to the understanding of how and why our landscape is changing.
