Collaborators

Dr Akindeh Nji

Education:

  • PhD in International Health Research
  • MSc in Applied Statistics

Research Interests:
Akindeh is using Mathematics/Statistics to model the control and elimination of malaria in Cameroon and other endemic countries with varying interventions and transmission patterns.

Dr Vusi Magagula

Education:

  • Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Mathematics (2017)
  • Master of Science in Applied Mathematics (2013)
  • Master of Science in Mathematics (2010)
  • Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science, (2008)

Research Interests:
My primary area of research is numerical analysis and mathematical modelling of infectious diseases. Mathematical models are developed and simulated using computers to deeply understand the dynamics of infectious diseases. These models are also used to understand how to mitigate the spread of infectious diseases. SADC is currently the main focus on the mathematical modelling of infectious diseases. I am currently collaborating with the Modelling and Simulation Hub, Africa (MASHA) based at the University of Cape Town. Other interests include developing numerical algorithms for solving differential equations.

Megan Naidoo

Education:

  • PhD Candidate
  • MSc in Health Policy

Research Interests:
Megan is a predoctoral researcher in Health Impact Assessment at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health, PhD candidate in Medicine and Translation Research at the University of Barcelona and a Honorary Research Affiliate with MASHA. Her research interests include pandemic preparedness and response, geospatial modelling, social justice and data visualisation.

Dr Emmanuel Bakare

Education:

  • PhD (Mathematics)
  • MSc. (Mathematics)
  • B.Tech (Mathematics)

Research Interests:
Emmanuel’s research interest is in applied mathematics with the main focus on mathematical and economic modelling, epidemiology, nonlinear differential equations and dynamical systems. He also uses simulation and models to provide insights into infectious disease trends, quantify likely benefits of public health interventions, and support risk assessment for emerging infectious diseases.

Dr Timothy Awine

Education:

  • PhD in Mathematical modelling of infectious diseases
  • MSc in Statistics

Research Interests:
Infectious diseases epidemiology and dynamics(eg. Malaria,Schistosomiasis etc). Statistical and mathematical modelling of infectious diseases.
