Presented by Dr Clint Veale (Dept of Chemistry, UCT)

Clint received his BPharm from Rhodes University in 2007, which was followed by 2 years of clinical practice. After completing his MSc in medicinal and biological chemistry at the University of Edinburgh, he returned to Rhodes University to begin his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Michael Davies-Coleman and Dr. Kevin Lobb in the field of medical chemistry. After graduating in 2014, Clint was appointed as a lecturer in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at Rhodes University. In 2015 Clinton undertook a Claude Leon Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Stellenbosch University to work with Dr. Stephen Pelly, and in 2018, Clint was appointed as a senior lecturer in Organic Chemistry at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He is currently an Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at UCT, where his primary research focus is on the application of synthetic organic and biophysical chemistry methods for the design of biologically active compounds, which explore new areas of druggable chemical space.
