The Katia and Maurice Krafft Award has been brought home
The Katia and Maurice Krafft Award recognizes scientists that have developed and implemented innovative and inclusive methods of communicating geosciences to a wider, diverse and non-specialist audience. EGU named this award in honour of the Kraffts, two volcanologists who dedicated their lives to documenting volcanological phenomena.
The award is in recognition for the work that Sinelethu Hashibi and the team at Chosi Ndabazomhlaba have done to make Geology accessible to everyone, in a language other than English (i.e., isiXhosa). They tell the most compelling stories about the geological record of South Africa, in a manner that can be understood by anyone who loves a good story. An audiovisual of the stories is hosted on their YouTube Channel. Read more here.
