Preschoolers Enjoy Hands-On Chemistry Fun at UCT Educare

Members of the Chemistry Transformation and Marketing Committee, Laa-iqa Rylands and Claire Lawrence-Naidoo, organised and facilitated an engaging science workshop for the 4-5 year class at the UCT Educare on Friday, 28th June. The preschoolers were thrilled they were there and couldn’t contain their excitement waiting for the planned activities to start. 

The workshop began with a captivating liquid nitrogen demonstration, followed by hands-on activities where each learner wore laboratory gloves and safety glasses and got to create their own slime and bath bombs. The learners' reactions and excitement were truly amazing to witness! 

The event concluded with the always popular elephant’s toothpaste experiment, which proved to be a show-stopper. Curriculum Coordinator Fazloona Dixon expressed her gratitude to Laa-iqa and Claire for their dedication to enhancing the curriculum and creating memorable learning moments for the little learners. 

This workshop was a fantastic opportunity to inspire and expose future learners to the exciting and fun world of chemistry.
