Thesis title: Geomorphological Evidence For Seismic Hazard On The Southern Edge Of The Zimbabwe Craton: The Limpopo Belt

Research interests: Neotectonics, Normal Faulting, Stable Continental Regions, Geodetics

We are generally trying to find out what is controlling the neotectonism in the Limpopo belt. There is only a few studies that touched the  seismicity of the Limpopo belt, especially the South African part. We are using stereophotogrammetry to find geomorphological evidence for neotectonism  in the Limpopo belt. We are specifically analysing the Bosbokpoort and Tshipise normal faults in the Limpopo belt and the Mazenga grabens located few hundred kilometres east of the Limpopo belt. These analyses will aid in estimating magnitudes of the earthquakes related to these faults.
