The caracal represents wildlife in general and one of the most successful wildlife species globally, surviving and even thriving in both natural and heavily transformed agricultural and urban landscapes across Africa. In our logo the caracal is seen to be stepping into a circle which symbolises the transition from a natural into a human-modified landscape. The impact of this transition on the survival and reproductive success of the caracal depends on a complex suite of interacting factors that together define the community into which the caracal has moved. The goal of iCWild is to firstly understand the impacts of this transition on both wildlife and people in the community and to secondly use this knowledge to assist both wildlife and communities by deriving sustainable solutions to conflicts.
