Chemistry Open Day 2015
The Chemistry display was buzzing on Open Day. Hundreds of scholars were entertained with activities such as distillation of coke, making ice-cream using liquid nitrogen, molecular models and slime making. These activities all demonstrate various principles in chemistry. Postgraduate students on duty were bombarded with all kinds of questions from scholars. The enthusiasm and energy radiating from the stand were positive and welcoming. Three academics, Dr Jardine, Dr Oliver and Prof Smith were instrumental in informing scholars about the requirements for studying Chemistry at UCT and the opportunities that a Chemistry Degree could provide.
