Research
My primary research focus is to develop a high‑quality earthquake catalog for the aftershock sequence of the 23rd August 2011 Virginia earthquake, using Machine Learning techniques. This study builds on a long‑standing scientific interest in seismicity patterns in intraplate regions and supports a broader goal of improving earthquake detection capabilities in areas with sparse seismic networks. The research workflow involves migrating raw data through several stages: preprocessing, noise reduction, extraction of waveform features, training and validation of ML‑based pickers and classifiers, and the systematic evaluation of detected events.
