Dr Nabanita Chatterjee
Dr. Nabanita Chatterjee received her PhD in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, India, in 2016. She began her postdoctoral research in August 2016 as a recipient of a prestigious two-year NRF Postdoctoral Fellowship, joining the research group of Associate Professor Clive Oliver at the University of Cape Town. Her work focused on the crystal engineering of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) based on mixed ligands. In 2018, she went to the University of Bath as a visiting Rutherford Postdoctoral Fellows, working with Professor Janet L. Scott on a collaborative project with the University of Cape Town. In 2019, she was associated with Professor Bourne’s group for few months, and later rejoined Associate Professor Oliver’s team in 2020 for a second NRF-funded postdoctoral term.
In 2024, Dr. Chatterjee contributed to two green chemistry projects applying mechanochemical principles, during a six-month appointment as a research associate and temporary lecturer with Associate Professor Anwar Jardine. Currently, she holds the position of Junior Research Fellow at the Centre for Supramolecular Chemistry Research (CSCR). Her research interests include the design and synthesis of functional materials and their porosity studies involving diverse supramolecular systems.
