Thesis title: Not just another clast: a curious stone tool embedded in Pleistocene termitaria

Research interests: Geoarchaeology, Paleontology, Sedimentology

Eight fossil termitaria are preserved within a calcified palaeosol which is underlain by rounded gravel deposits primarily comprising quartzite. Sporadic rounded, quartzite cobbles are preserved within the palaeosol and incorporated into the termitaria. On top of a single nest, a distinct clast, in terms of morphology and composition, is embedded with carbonate precipitate partially covering the clast and holding it in place.
